沙海中的三块石头

During a desert research trip, Salim and Rosa became separated from their group when a sudden wall of dust covered the trail. Their map was accurate, but the moving sand had hidden every familiar direction. They carried enough water for one day, so choosing the wrong path could lead to serious danger.

Rosa wanted to climb a high dune and search for the camp. Salim noticed three black stones arranged in a straight line. Such stones did not belong to the pale desert, and each one had a small arrow cut into its surface. The arrows pointed toward a dry riverbed. Even though the riverbed led away from the planned route, they decided to follow the human signs.

At sunset, they discovered an old shelter used by local guides. Inside were water jars and a simple signal mirror. Rosa used the last light to flash toward the mountains, and their group answered. The three stones had not shown the shortest way back; they had provided a safer place to survive. The experience changed Salim's idea of a map. A useful direction does not always point straight to a destination. Sometimes it points first to what a traveler requires most.
